Cold wintry weather to hit York County

Link

Get thee to the grocery store and stock up on food and drink.

Bundle up.

Find a warm place to "cocoon."

Ice, freezing rain (sleet) and maybe snow are coming tomorrow to York County and entire the Charlotte area, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures will plunge.

Stay tuned.

Bloggers galore everywhere

Link

Don't think blogging is mushrooming? Well, think again. And would you guess most of the growth in blogging is from males/guys/boys/men or from the other gender?

Read about how blogging is definitely becoming a viable form of mass communication.

J-Lo has to sue her ex

Link

Jennifer Lopez, one of my favorites, finds herself in a $10 million lawsuit against her ex-husband, who wants to write a tell-all book about their private life.

Ms. Lopez has tried desperately to keep this matter private, to no avail.

Now the litigation has hit the press.

She does NOT want details of her private intimacy disseminated via a book.

And who can blame her?

You go, woman!

Cold in my hometown this morning

Link

It's 7 degrees this morning in Mountain City, Tenn.--about 25 miles from Boone, N.C., with a wind chill that will freeze your bones.

And the white stuff has cancelled schools in Mountain City today.

Glad I'm in South Carolina!

Three teenagers die in car crash in Gaston County

Link

Recently in our Media Writing class, we discussed what hard news is vis-a-vis soft news. Read the tragic story about the fate of three teens who died as a result of a car crash in Gaston County--which borders the county Charlotte is in.

The three teens were close friends and all were seniors at Bessmer City High School in Bessemer City, N.C.

Example of hard news here?

Soft news?

Post your thoughts in response to my queries on this story.

Lovie Smith vs. Tony Dungy in Super Bowl 41

Link

What a performance the Indianapolis Colts put on yesterday in coming from behind to beat the New England Patriots.

And my man Peyton Manning--who formerly played at Rocky Top University (UT)--showed his best stuff.

This was one heck of a football game in Indianapolis.

I'm looking forward to the Super Bowl on Feb. 4. It will be a first in NFL history, featuring two African American head coaches, Tony Dungy and Lovie Smith.
